What the camera sees is not what the brain "sees". A photograph accurately reproducing what the retina passes to the brain would have colour only in the centre portion. The rest would be monochrome. Also, the perception of size can vary and cause difficulties for the photographer e.g. the moon illusion.
The argument that digital photography is less "natural" than using film ignores the fact that any two dimensional representation of a 3 dimensional scene is a construct. This argument about film being somehow "purer" is a sham.
