Glasshouse mountains from Mary Cairncross Park_MG_5170

Whilst visiting Rebecca and Russell we did some touring around Melaney. The Mary Cairncross Park was a great place to have lunch and this was the fabulous view of the Glasshouse Mountains from the restaurant.
After a tasty lunch, we walked through the park. The rainforest and wildlife were the best I have seen. More birds than can be seen at Mt Glorious. Because of the overcast weather, photographing the wildlife proved beyond the capacity of my camera, but we saw Catbirds, Noisy Pittas, Paddymelons and lots of small birds foraging in the undergrowth.
Looking forward to returning when the weather is better.

Photographed at Rebecca & Russell's property near Witta. This is the first time I have seen one of these. It was much larger than a Brown Honeyeater. The dark colours and the bright sunshine made it difficult to
get much detail.

Having a drink at our bird bath.
I always enjoy the call of the Currawong as their arrival in our area signals Autumn and the more pleasant cooler weather.
Last year I tried feeding them (they like sultanas) Unfortunately this proved too popular and large flocks started to arrive. At first, I thought this was quite amusing, but the novelty soon wore off and this year feeding them has been banned by "She who must be obeyed". baned

This little guy is about the size of a large mouse and was completely fearless. It had chased the birds out of our bird feeder and was busy stuffing itself. It didn't run off, even when I touched its tail.

Oh no!! There is there a snake down there? The rat was absolutely transfixed and wouldn't jump into the garden.
