Tiger Beetles - doin' what comes naturally

Tiger Beetles - doin' what comes naturally

Hooray!! At last I have seen an Australian Tiger Beetle. Totally different markings to the NZ variety which is plain black and white instead of this lovely irridescent sheen. I always remember seeing a NZ Tiger Beetle find its mate and share a fly it had caught. I'm sure insects have more intelligence than we credit them with.
Before I magnified this shot on my camera's preview screen, I thought I had found a 12 legged mutant.
